This beach is yours

The tour will begin at any location between Wellington and Palmerston North, taking you and your camera around the Kapiti Coast and Manawatu Beaches, where you will capture the majestic Te Horo Beach, Waitarere Beach, Foxton Beach and more.

Summary of the tour

On a one-day scenery photography tour, there is an opportunity to observe wildlife, practice macros and long exposure shots, and capture captivating coastal sunsets while exploring the panoramic beaches of Kapiti Coast and the Foxton area.

The tour offers a distinctive experience, providing an opportunity to access isolated places and reveal the native wild landscapes to the camera.

The journey begins anywhere from Wellington to Palmerston North. Typically, the initial contact with the sand occurs at Peka Peka Beach. Hereafter, the expedition proceeds to the furthest point of Te Horo Beach. A pause will be taken along the way to capture scenic views unfolding in all directions. A remarkable array of subjects awaits when the Otaki River meets the sea.

Forced by the river, a return to SH1 is necessary. However, it should be a short time before returning to the sand.

One of the most sensational views of the day begins with the Waitohu Stream, concluding 10 kilometres to the north with the water flow of the Ohau River. It’s the best chance to watch hundreds of birds hovering, taking off and landing, and occasionally splashing water everywhere. At dusk, a great flock of seabirds might soar, darting and circling above the heads as they descend onto the black beach to roost for the night.

Foxton Beach marks the beginning of a new segment in the adventure. This time, the water of two streams splashes on the way to Tangimoana Beach, offering spectacular reflections on the wet black sand and allowing creative photographs. Various elements, such as clouds, birds, or silhouettes, contribute to creating beautiful compositions. A collection of driftwood, abandoned by nature and polished by waves and wind, awaits the cameras.

If weather conditions allow, enjoying a meal picked up from one of the local takeaways or restaurants on the beach is an option. This will be decided upon at the start of the journey.

The start time for the tour will be planned to align with a sunset shoot. Additionally, the tide for the day of travel must be considered, as waves may wash over certain parts of the beach.

The tour costs $445 per person, and a minimum of 2 people is required to start. You have the option to select the tour as a private event.

The pickup location and time will be determined during the booking process.

Please note that the route may experience significant changes due to road closures or unexpected weather events. Together, we'll (re)configure the best route option to make this day truly successful.
